The important rule
In widely shared beginner guidance, pet passive effects apply even when you are not babysitting pet deployment fantasy. Equip pets for the bonuses. Empty pet slots are wasted stats.
If you collected a pet and never opened the pet UI, you may be leaving free power on the table.
How pets fit progression
| Priority | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Unlock/equip any pet you own |
| 2 | Prefer passives that help your current bottleneck |
| 3 | Do not rearrange your whole rune order around a minor pet bonus |
Pets amplify a good loop. They do not replace party slots, Priest, or Alchemy discipline. → How it works
Pick passives for your bottleneck
| Bottleneck | Prefer pet style |
|---|---|
| Broke on slots | Gold / economy lean |
| Slow levels | XP lean |
| AFK wipes | Survivability lean |
| Slow clears on a crushable stage | Damage lean |
| Boss wall | Damage lean (with stable tank/heal) |
Do not chase a tiny damage passive while your bags are permanently full and your third slot is unbought.
AFK vs push
- AFK farm days: survivability and economy passives often beat microscopic DPS edges. → Farming
- Boss attempt nights: swap toward damage if your trio still lives
Pets vs runes vs gear
Spend attention in this order when weak:
- Client open + chests
- Slots + Priest
- Alchemy → key runes
- Gear floor
- Pets optimized
- Fancy sockets / Market
Pets are step 5, not step 1.
Hygiene checklist
- Every owned pet reviewed at least once after unlock
- Slots filled
- Passives match current goal (farm vs boss)
- Re-checked after swapping main DPS damage type
- Not used as an excuse to skip Priest
