Quick answer

How party formation works in TBH: Task Bar Hero — rune slots vs owned classes, deploy order, catch-up leveling, and swapping for farm vs bosses.

Formation is the loadout screen of TBH: Task Bar Hero. Most “I bought Hunter but can’t use them” confusion is really a slot problem.

Slots vs ownership

You have… You can field…
Knight only + 1 slot One hero
Knight + Priest owned + 1 slot Still one hero
Rune of Command 2nd/3rd slots Up to three heroes

Buy slots in the Rune Tree. Claim Priest early so slot two has a real support waiting.

Positioning / order

Exact left-right behavior can shift by patch, but the intent is stable:

  • Front pressure heroes (Knight, sometimes geared Priest) absorb attention
  • Backline DPS (Ranger / Sorcerer / Hunter) stay safer
  • Reordering is usually cheap compared to deploying a brand-new hero (community notes mention deploy cooldowns — check live UI)

Catch-up leveling

With spare slots, carrying an underleveled hero can accelerate them. Do this after your main trio can still clear the farm stage — do not brick chests/hour for vanity levels.

FAQ

Why can’t I add my third class?

Need a third slot, not just ownership.

Should I rearrange constantly?
